The Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) program, previously known as Geology and Geophysics, equips students to apply scientific theories and techniques to comprehend Earth's systems and other planetary bodies. Coursework spans from studying Earth's evolution and life history to contemporary environmental processes and climate shifts, exploring planetary interiors, tectonic plates, oceans, atmospheres, weather patterns, landforms, natural resources, and ecosystems. The program focuses on using fundamental concepts from physics, chemistry, and biology to interpret Earth's history, current state, and future challenges. Students develop comprehensive knowledge across natural sciences while specializing in planetary or environmental topics through focused tracks. The four Bachelor of Science tracks prioritize practical research through field studies, lab work, or computational modeling. While many graduates pursue careers in Earth science research, environmental consulting, or planetary science industries, the program's interdisciplinary foundation also prepares students for diverse fields like healthcare, legal practice, policy-making, and education.
