Biology spans an immense scope, covering everything from molecules and cells to tissues, organs, living beings, and entire ecosystems. It also investigates evolutionary origins, adaptation processes, and the inner workings of cells, organisms, and ecological networks. Those pursuing a Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology degree gain comprehensive, well-rounded training that prepares them for diverse professional paths. Biological knowledge finds real-world use in creating medicines and biologics, medical practice, and uncovering scientific principles behind biological development and function. The MCDB program allows students to focus on molecular and cellular studies, genetics, and their applications in developmental biology, neuroscience, and quantitative approaches. The major also provides interdisciplinary options through specialized concentrations in Biotechnology, Neurobiology, and Quantitative Biology (formerly called tracks).
