The African Studies program offers an interdisciplinary approach to exploring Africa's arts, history, cultures, political systems, and development. Students begin with broad, cross-disciplinary exposure to African studies before specializing in their junior and senior years. They can concentrate on specific disciplines like anthropology, art history, or political science, or focus on thematic areas including global health, economic development, or human rights. This program is particularly valuable for students pursuing graduate education or careers in diverse fields such as law, medicine, international relations, or social work. Its interdisciplinary nature helps students meet the growing demand from graduate programs and employers for both specialized expertise and a comprehensive liberal arts background.
