Yale School of Music's trumpet program offers students deep engagement with solo and ensemble performance across historical and contemporary works. Weekly private instruction with Kevin Cobb and studio classes form the core of the curriculum. The program cultivates artistic innovation while motivating students to utilize Yale's extensive academic and musical resources. Beyond solo performances, trumpet players collaborate in chamber groups - a hallmark of the Yale experience. They also contribute to diverse ensembles, including the New Music New Haven series and the Yale Philharmonia orchestra. These performance platforms enable students to interpret broad musical styles under the guidance of renowned visiting conductors.

Qualification Requirements
Request recommendations from two teachers who have taught you in core academic subjects (e.g. English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies) who know you well, and who have seen you at your best. It is preferable, but not required, that recommendations come from teachers who have taught you during your final or next-to-final year of secondary school. In response to the extraordinary circumstances associated with the pandemic, Yale is temporarily suspending its requirement that first-year and transfer applicants submit results from the ACT or SAT.
