The Master of Science in applied mathematics provides comprehensive training in practical mathematical applications. You can customize your studies to focus on discrete or continuous mathematics, or probability and statistics. Taking courses in applied fields like computer science, engineering, or physics is also recommended. Students have the option to include a modeling project in their curriculum. The degree requires completing 30 semester credits. While primarily preparing graduates for careers in business, industry, or government, the program can also be adapted to build a strong base for pursuing a mathematics PhD. The department accommodates part-time students by scheduling all required courses for late afternoons or evenings.
