The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Science in Aerospace Systems Engineering (MSE). This unique program stands out by mandating an interdisciplinary minor focused on aerospace-related disciplines. Students enjoy access to cutting-edge facilities such as modern classrooms, specialized laboratories, and advanced computing resources. Laboratory offerings feature wind tunnels, materials analysis centers, structural evaluation facilities, and control systems labs, tailored to each student's academic focus. The computing infrastructure encompasses multiple Sun, DEC, and Silicon Graphics servers and workstations, X-window terminals, and PCs. Additionally, students can utilize the Ohio Supercomputer through the Ohio Academic and Research Network (OARNET). Many participants also benefit from the department's close proximity to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, gaining potential access to Air Force Research Laboratory facilities and equipment, pending official authorization.
