Students will learn to recognize fundamental elements of emergency management systems and implement these concepts within public health contexts. Core public health principles and a unified vision will serve as foundations for navigating crises, including preparedness, response, and recovery from terrorist incidents. Students will gain the ability to explain: emergency response mechanisms and their public health applications, the structure of emergency management organizations, how policy choices impact public health during crises, and the primary legal structures governing disaster response. They'll understand how counterterrorism policies affect public health outcomes, including responses to active threats, and will become familiar with key terrorism response protocols. Learners will acquire essential emergency management knowledge for public health careers. Students will cultivate respect for diverse individuals and cultures. They'll enhance their understanding of personal and family emergency readiness strategies. Participants will explore methods to strengthen public health infrastructure during disasters or emergencies. Students will acknowledge how cultural, social, and behavioral factors influence access to and provision of public health services during crises and terrorism-related events. They'll leverage individual, collaborative, and institutional learning experiences for growth in both personal and professional capacities.

Qualification Requirements

You must submit an official transcript accompanied by a translation into English if needed. If your credentials cannot be evaluated by the Office of International Admissions, you are required to submit your academic credentials to an evaluation service and pay the cost of the evaluation.
If your native language is not English and you do not have a degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, you must have a minimum score on one of the following exams:
A score of 79/120 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.)
A band 6 or higher through the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
A score of 57 or higher on the Pearson PTE
Students who show proof of successful completion of an Intensive English Program from an accredited Institution or program accepted by international admissions are exempt from the requirement to take an approved English Proficiency exam.

You may be required by your academic advisors to take an English writing placement test. If you do not pass this test, you may be required to take more on-campus classes to improve your English. If you have earned a degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, you are exempted from the TOEFL requirement.
