The School of Music provides a four-year program tailored for aspiring music professionals. As an institution accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the school aligns its admission and graduation criteria with the association's established standards. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Music degree specializing in performance, music education, or music history and literature, or opt for a Bachelor of Arts with a music concentration. The department also partners with the Computer Science Department's Music Option. Graduate programs include a Master of Music in education or performance and a Master of Humanities degree. Given the customized nature of these programs, students must work closely with an advisor to design their academic path. Applicants must not only complete standard university admissions but also submit a School of Music audition application, demonstrate proficiency in their primary performance area, and consult with a faculty advisor for guidance and course registration. Transfer students need to provide academic transcripts alongside meeting these requirements, with at least one full year of study mandatory for degree completion.
