The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures focuses solely on undergraduate education in these disciplines, offering both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. Aspiring theatre students can pursue a B.A. in Theatre Studies or select from B.F.A. programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Design/Technology/Stage Management.
Under Ohio Revised Code authorization, the department mandates specific preparatory training or demonstrated talent for certain programs. Admission to all five B.F.A. programs involves meeting distinct criteria at each academic level. Prospective majors in Acting, Acting/Musical Theatre, or Dance must complete successful auditions. First-year applicants enjoy open admission for the B.A. in Theatre Studies and Motion Pictures History, Theory, and Criticism, as well as the B.F.A. in Design/Technology/Stage Management and Motion Pictures Production. Transfer students gain entry to B.F.A. programs through successful auditions, interviews, or portfolio reviews.
