Classics explores the civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome, whose impact continues to shape Western society through language, arts, governance, and intellectual thought. Wright State's classics department provides instruction across these disciplines. The Latin program enables students to concentrate on Latin language mastery, literary works, and cultural context, mandating seven semesters of language study. Supplementary electives span various topics connected to Classical antiquity. Aspiring Latin teachers can pursue the Latin major alongside the Latin Licensure program, a collaborative offering between the Classics Department and Wright State's College of Health, Education, and Human Services.
