In intimate class settings, you'll expand your understanding of communication processes and disorders while learning proven techniques from faculty who are practicing professionals—many of whom involve students in their research and clinical initiatives.

Fieldwork forms a crucial part of our program, offering practical experience and networking opportunities. Through at least 3 practicum placements across our network of 75+ New England sites—including Worcester State University's Speech-Language-Hearing Center—you'll complete over 375 hours of direct client care.

Program alumni meet requirements for ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), Massachusetts state licensure, and DESE teaching certification. They're highly recruited by schools, hospitals, rehab centers, clinics, and private practices, with all graduates securing employment within five years.

Worcester State's Communication Sciences and Disorders Department trains students in communication science, disorder prevention/assessment/treatment, and evidence-based approaches. Aligned with ASHA, DESE, and state licensing standards, our program cultivates clinical and academic excellence while adapting to societal changes. Through partnerships with schools and healthcare providers, we foster community involvement and professional development.
