Worcester State University's Master of Occupational Therapy program equips you with both theoretical foundations and hands-on skills to become a caring, capable professional assisting individuals across all age groups in developing or recovering essential life skills. This full-time daytime program offers outstanding value: Through the 4+ Occupational Therapy track, you'll earn your master's degree in occupational therapy about one year after finishing your undergraduate Occupational Studies coursework.
A key feature of our program, Level II Fieldwork gives you crucial practical experience while building professional networks that could result in future employment. You'll complete two intensive 12-week placements working directly with licensed occupational therapists, supporting clients with both psychological and physical challenges in diverse environments including medical centers, psychiatric institutions, and rehabilitation clinics.
You'll also engage in original research on a topic of your choice, producing a thesis as your capstone project. Past student work has appeared in prestigious publications like the American Occupational Therapy Association's Special Interest Sections Quarterly and OT Practice Magazine.
Our MOT graduates qualify to take the NBCOT certification exam, with our program maintaining excellent pass rates. Successful exam completion enables licensure applications, required for practice in Massachusetts and most U.S. states.
The department grants a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree, with a three-year curriculum available for students holding bachelor's degrees in non-OT fields.
