The School Psychology Education Specialist program (previously known as the certificate of advanced graduate studies) at Worcester State University equips you with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training to develop into a reflective, compassionate practitioner ready for sought-after roles in school psychology.
Recognized by the National Association of School Psychologists Accreditation Board and built on an ecological approach emphasizing prevention, evaluation, and support strategies, our curriculum instills principles of educational equity, cultural awareness, and compassionate practice. This program stands among just six comparable offerings in Massachusetts, delivering exceptional educational value at an affordable price.
This intensive 72-credit, three-year full-time program includes specialized coursework in evaluation techniques, therapeutic methods, and neuropsychological studies, along with chances to partner with faculty on research projects. Many students have recently showcased their work at national conferences.
After fulfilling all program requirements - which involve passing certification examinations, accumulating over 1,800 hours of supervised field experience, and demonstrating proficiency on a comprehensive assessment - you'll receive both an Education Specialist degree and a Master of Education in School Psychology. This dual qualification leads to Massachusetts state certification as a school psychologist through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
