Alongside fundamental geography classes, you'll enroll in Physical Geography or Meteorology, Human Geography, Physical Geology, Geographic Information Systems I, Geography Literature Seminar, Geography Seminar, a minimum of one upper-level course (200-400 level) in either physical or human geography, plus three advanced courses from any discipline.
With escalating climate crises, grasping Earth's systems and their connection to human activity grows increasingly crucial. The Geography Major enables you to examine weather patterns, geological formations, and water systems while exploring how societal factors like globalization, population trends, urban development, and cultural identity formation influence our planet's landscape and climate. You'll acquire vital analytical and critical thinking abilities applicable to diverse scientific, environmental, and policy-focused professions. Later, you'll apply classroom knowledge through practical work in our GIS and earth science labs, complemented by off-campus internships or research collaborations with community partners. High-achieving students may qualify for Gamma Theta Upsilon, the international geography honor society.
