The Early Childhood Education Major equips you to earn the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Initial License, qualifying you to teach children from preschool through second grade in public schools. This comprehensive program combines a liberal arts foundation with professional teacher training. Transfer students may qualify for course waivers when applicable. Most education courses incorporate essential fieldwork components. During pre-practicum, students gain diverse experience across multiple settings - including urban, rural, and suburban schools - while rotating through different grade levels and school buildings to develop broad teaching competencies.
