Our actuarial mathematics degree program features specialized math classes along with foundational studies in business, economics, data science, and computer science. You'll build a strong mathematical foundation before progressing to advanced subjects such as interest theory, risk assessment, loss modeling, and survival analysis. The program also develops your programming abilities while covering essential business topics like corporate finance and project leadership.
Through challenging coursework and practical experience, you'll be well-prepared for the professional exams from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS). WPI's curriculum also fulfills additional SOA/CAS educational requirements through Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) courses.
Combined BS/MS Opportunity
With careful planning, students can earn both a bachelor's in Actuarial Mathematics and a master's in Applied Statistics in just five years at WPI.
