The Department of History, Philosophy, and Liberal Studies equips students to become engaged global citizens while opening doors to diverse professional paths. Our selection of majors and minors fosters essential analytical abilities and research competencies that enhance employability across multiple industries. Graduates from our department pursue careers in education, legal fields, museum curation, public service, nonprofit leadership, marketing, corporate sectors, media, and beyond. Additionally, our curriculum provides excellent groundwork for advanced studies in graduate or law programs.
Through the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, students can earn a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies. This interdisciplinary program blends arts, humanities, and social sciences, enabling learners to craft a customized yet challenging academic journey. Participants select two concentrations from various disciplines such as American Studies, Anthropology, Criminology and Criminal Justice, English, History, Legal Studies, Philosophy, Sociology, and more. The liberal studies degree offers versatile career preparation, particularly suited for those desiring comprehensive knowledge and aspiring educators pursuing P-3, K-5, or 5-8 teaching certifications.
