The English major provides diverse academic opportunities. Our literature curriculum explores British, American, European, Caribbean, South American, African, Native American, and Indian literary traditions across various historical eras. Writing instruction encompasses fiction, poetry, business communication, creative nonfiction, experimental prose, and technical documentation. Students pursuing K12 Education certification will follow a tailored course progression to prepare for the Praxis exam and classroom instruction. English majors may also choose to supplement their degree with specialized certificates in creative writing, professional writing, or other focused areas of study.
