Creating art involves embracing chaos, spontaneity, and unconventional thinking. Art instruction can help students welcome life's disorderly, uncertain, and unconventional aspects. The Bachelor of Art Education, P-12 (BAE, P-12) program blends artistic creation and visual analysis to examine how material experimentation, cultural awareness, and personal identity converge in art. Theory and practice intertwine as we collaboratively teach and learn, applying contemporary art education approaches to help each student cultivate their distinct teaching perspective.
This P-12 art education degree trains future art specialists for elementary, middle, and high school settings. The curriculum covers fundamental studio art classes, specialized media courses, art history surveys, and three dedicated art education courses. These explore subjects like youth artistic growth, lesson planning and evaluation, promoting diversity and inclusion in art spaces, advocating for art education, identity exploration, and storytelling through art—providing graduates with diverse creative and teaching methods for their future classrooms.
