The combined Five-year BSMS in Civil Engineering will build your career from the foundation to the top floor by accelerating your studies, saving you both time and money. Whether you are interested in creating modern structures of the future, rebuilding after disasters, or upgrading outdated infrastructure, the market for civil engineers is growing every day. The combined program at Western New England University will prepare you faster with the latest technology and engineering best practices so that you can take advantage of waiting opportunities. As an undergraduate student, you may concentrate in Civil, Environmental, Reservoir, and Railway Engineering. For your graduate studies, you will take five core courses in Construction Management, Solid Mechanics or Advanced Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering, Finite Element and Numerical Analysis, (Design of Experiments, and Engineering Management or Project Management. You will then choose an advisor and course of study for the remainder of your education. Your choices include an all-course option; a project option, which includes advanced coursework and a final presented project; and a thesis option, that involves advanced coursework and a thesis with presentation.
Provisional acceptance is granted to incoming freshmen have a 3.5 high school GPA. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher each year (freshman, sophomore, and junior years) to maintain their provisional acceptance. Students who do not qualify for provisional acceptance as an incoming freshman can apply during the first semester of their junior year as long as they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
