The programs offer two pathways: a thesis track and a coursework track. Both require completing 24 credit hours of core classes. The thesis track is available to qualified students pursuing research or project-based studies. Candidates must submit a formal request to the department chair, with thesis committees requiring approval from both the chair and graduate dean. The committee chair must be an ECE faculty member, though interdisciplinary projects may include a co-chair from any WMU department.

Possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program in the U.S. or a reputable overseas school as certified by the WMU Office of International Student Services.
