This interdisciplinary Master of Science program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Statistics (COAS) and the Department of Computer Science (CEAS), administered through the Statistics Department. As one of the fastest-growing fields today, data science professionals enjoy strong market demand. The curriculum equips students with comprehensive skills to tackle modern and emerging data challenges. Upon completion, graduates will possess capabilities to: retrieve and manage diverse data sources, handle Big Data infrastructure, implement analytical methods (including statistical modeling and data mining) on complex datasets, utilize appropriate platforms for data processing and visualization, collaborate effectively in teams, and communicate results clearly.
The program requires completion of at least 32 credit hours, culminating in a Master of Science degree in Data Science.
For admission to the program, candidates must have completed an undergraduate program including linear algebra, calculus, a course in statistical methods, a course in probability, introduction to R software and a strong background in an object oriented programming language such as Java or C++.
