By earning your degree at Western, you'll receive the precise preparation and guidance needed to excel across diverse sectors including public accounting firms, corporate finance, and government agencies.
Requiring just 30 graduate-level semester hours to complete, our program fulfills the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) academic standards. The AICPA mandates 150 college credit hours for new members seeking CPA licensure.
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Science in Accountancy program, an applicant must have earned:
A total score of at least 1,100, which is the sum of the GMAT score and 200 times the GPA for the last 60 hours in an accredited undergraduate degree program.
A minimum GMAT score of 480.
A minimum GPA of 2.75 for the last 60 hours in an accredited undergraduate degree program.
Note: If you are a Western Michigan University accountancy major with an average grade point of 3.0 or higher in five of the following eight courses (or equivalents), you are not required to take the GMAT: ACTY 3100, 3110, 3130, 3140, 3220, 3240, 4160 and two of the electives (4110, 4140, 4220 and 4240, 4310 and 4980).

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54
Michigan English Test (MET): 57
Application deadlines:
Enrollment of new international students will be limited to fall semester except for students with above 90-577 IBT/PBT scores who may begin their enrollment in fall, spring or summer I terms.
