Recognizing the value of hands-on learning, our program requires either a field study or laboratory component. Western's Psychology Department provides numerous chances to engage in research, whether as an assistant or participant.
Psychology majors develop practical skills through experiential learning in areas like general psychology, child psychology, and behavior analysis - fields where our department has gained global recognition. With a science-based approach, our curriculum focuses on empirical research across specialties including developmental psychology, psychopathology, industrial-organizational psychology, autism studies, legal psychology, environmental psychology, educational psychology, aging research, neuropsychology, and beyond.
