Western Michigan University's occupational therapy assistant program equips you to take the certification exam and become a licensed occupational therapy assistant. The program also provides a foundation for advanced education should you decide to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in occupational therapy.
As an OTA student at WMU, you'll benefit from distinctive learning experiences and mentorship programs that foster collaborative relationships with doctoral candidates. You'll participate in clinical rotations alongside doctoral students, gaining hands-on experience that will distinguish you in your professional career.
Before graduating, you'll complete a bachelor's-level capstone project. This project offers comprehensive training in areas like administration, advocacy, clinical skills development, education, or leadership.
A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
