Western Michigan University's Environmental Geology program combines a solid foundation in geology with specialized courses focused on real-world environmental challenges in earth sciences. Students can choose advanced courses from multiple disciplines such as fundamental geology, applied techniques, climate studies, and water resource geology.
Environmental geology majors at WMU must complete six credits of practical field modules covering geological surveying techniques, groundwater investigation methods, and drone-based data collection approaches.
The program offers excellent professional growth prospects through involvement in student groups and community organizations, including our dynamic student chapters: Geology Club, AIPG Student Chapter, AAPG Student Chapter, and SEG Student Chapter.
A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
