Western Michigan University's aviation maintenance technology program equips you for diverse careers in aircraft maintenance. By fulfilling this major's requirements, you'll be ready to undertake the FAA's Airframe and Powerplant certification exams. Our alumni don't just become certified aviation mechanics and technicians - they also gain leadership abilities to advance professionally. Many graduates progress to roles as project managers, supervisors, and executive leaders.
Those pursuing aviation maintenance technology at WMU share a deep enthusiasm for aircraft and mastering their mechanics. Starting immediately, you'll get hands-on experience with actual aircraft. The program's practical approach lets students work on WMU's specialized maintenance fleet, featuring an operational Boeing 727 provided through a partnership with the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals and FedEx.
A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
Minimum English proficiency test scores:
