Biomedical laboratory diagnostic experts serve as medical investigators, conducting both standard and advanced analyses on bodily fluids and tissue specimens. Their essential contributions enable laboratory findings that inform approximately 70% of clinical determinations. The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics bachelor's program provides two specialization options: medical laboratory science or histotechnology.

Students may enter this major immediately after high school or during their college studies. Following completion of prerequisite coursework at a WVU System location (Morgantown, Beckley, or Keyser) or another accredited institution, learners are accepted into one of the two specialization tracks.
