Webster University provides two specialized tracks in music education that fulfill or surpass Missouri's K-12 teacher certification standards. These programs cater to aspiring educators who want to teach music in elementary or secondary schools. The music education bachelor's degree holds accreditation from both the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Program Objectives
Music education graduates will: Develop and articulate their teaching philosophy and demonstrate its application in classroom settings, Evaluate and select age-appropriate instructional materials and repertoire that align with state/national standards while embracing cultural diversity, Design and deliver lessons using multiple teaching approaches to accommodate diverse student needs and learning styles, Apply effective assessment strategies using valid evaluation tools to measure student progress.
