The Languages and Transcultural Studies program equips students to succeed in our interconnected world. Faculty members deliver language instruction through cultural immersion. Learners can select from French, German, Spanish, or Japanese. Through emphasizing both cultural understanding and language mastery, students explore fundamental identity issues present in various societies and expressed through their traditions, arts, and literature. Certain courses throughout the curriculum are available in English.
Beyond language acquisition, participants cultivate cross-cultural communication abilities, effective learning techniques, and the assurance to interact with international peers. The curriculum helps students understand and frame their personal beliefs, customs, and viewpoints within broader contexts. Typically, participants refine innovative problem-solving and analytical skills while developing intercultural mediation capabilities—valuable competencies that enhance career prospects.
