To address climate change and reduce reliance on imported petroleum and non-renewable energy, the U.S. government has made developing alternative energy solutions a top priority. This initiative now shapes Michigan's industrial and technological sectors, with engineers tasked with creating sustainable energy systems for diverse applications from transportation to residential climate control. In 2004, WSU pioneered the nation's first graduate program in renewable energy technology and continues to lead with forward-thinking coursework that equips students to drive the transition toward a hydrogen-powered future.
