This program offers specialized training for gifted students seeking professional expertise in conducting. Participants may specialize in orchestral, wind ensemble, or choral direction – or explore a blend of ensemble types – while also studying the historical and theoretical foundations of the discipline. Students acquire hands-on experience with diverse performers and musical works. Alumni have established careers as professional conductors and music instructors. The Music Department fosters musical artistry as both a modern and worldwide practice, rooted in rich traditions, by merging academic study with professional development for students at all levels. The program enables music students to enhance their abilities and knowledge within an urban artistic environment.
