The combined M.A./J.D. program enables students to obtain both a Master of Arts and a Juris Doctor degree in approximately the same timeframe as pursuing either degree individually. To enroll in this program, candidates must gain approval from both the Law School and the Political Science Department independently.
Prospective students must first secure admission to Wayne Law before applying for the dual degree option. After entering law school, they can then seek admission to the Political Science Master's program. Law students must finish their mandatory first-year coursework before enrolling in additional classes. Following this, they may take a mix of political science and law courses. When students fulfill all Political Science Department requirements for the M.A. and all Law School requirements for the J.D., they receive both degrees simultaneously.
