To decrease the country's reliance on foreign fossil fuels and minimize the ecological effects of petroleum-based energy systems, there's a pressing demand to transition a substantial portion of vehicles to electric power. In 2010, Wayne State pioneered as the first university to introduce a complete electric-vehicle engineering program. Supported by a $5 million U.S. Department of Energy grant and located near major automakers and parts suppliers, Wayne State equips students with the skills and expertise to emerge as future leaders in automotive innovation.
Within Wayne State's College of Engineering, you'll study under nationally recognized faculty specialists while experiencing our High Impact Student Success Practices: collaborative learning, international outlook, hands-on research opportunities, professional work placements, and civic engagement initiatives.
