The Doctoral program primarily focuses on developing research proficiency, equipping graduates to lead their own labs and teach in academic environments. In the initial two years, students master core concepts in molecular and cellular biology at an advanced level, while also delving deeper into anatomical sciences, vision sciences, and neurosciences. They undertake lab rotations to identify a permanent advisor for their Ph.D. research. Years three and four concentrate on finalizing the research project under the guidance of the advisor and dissertation committee. The full program is structured for completion within four years. Students gain opportunities to showcase their work at National/International conferences and during the School of Medicine's Graduate Student Research Day (GSRD).
