Qualification Requirements

International applicants must complete the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, including all state and external/internal examinations required for the degree. Some three-year general degrees (from Canada, India, Pakistan, France, Lebanon, etc.) may not be equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree. However, if you have completed an honors degree, additional undergraduate coursework beyond the three-year bachelor's degree, or a graduate degree, you may be considered for admission. As an international student, you are required to meet the university's English proficiency requirements for Undergraduate Admissions. Undergraduate certificate programs are open to Wayne State students who have completed at least 60 credits and have a GPA of 2.5 or above. The program also is open to students who have previously earned a bachelor's at Wayne State or another institution. Minimum scores of 79-80 TOEFL iBT and IELTS 6.5 are required for admission to Wayne State. If your native language is not English but you have been instructed in the English language, you are not necessarily exempt from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Test of Written English (TWE) and the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) requirements.
