Faculty research spans three interconnected domains: Sustainable Energy Systems, Biomolecular Engineering, and Biomechanics. Key projects within these fields explore: catalysis and kinetics in chemical and biological systems, fuel cell technologies, biofilm development, innovative sensor designs, molecular engineering for cardiac and reproductive systems, and mechanics at molecular, cellular, and musculoskeletal levels. The department boasts specialized instrumentation for surface reaction analysis (including operando XPS, XRD, and Raman systems with custom reactors). Distinctive capabilities include biological applications of circular dichroism spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and confocal imaging, alongside sophisticated microelectrode fabrication and deployment, plus various tailored reactor setups with cutting-edge chemical analysis tools.
