Biology students at our institution primarily concentrate their research on diverse fields including ecology, evolution, systematics, molecular biology, along with plant and animal physiology. The curriculum incorporates instruction in teaching methodologies and grant proposal development. Additional professional growth avenues feature regular reading circles, ecology-focused lunch discussions, and an annual graduate research conference. Our Biological Sciences graduate program provides exceptional educational pathways for those pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. qualifications in biology or botanical sciences, including a coursework-based M.S. option in biology. Presently, around 75 graduate students work under the guidance of our faculty members. Educating graduate scholars remains a top priority for our Biological Sciences faculty. Applicants with at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) grade point Avg, or the equivalent in the last 60 graded semester (90 quarter) hours, from an accredited college or university, or at least a B grade point Avg in any graduate work from a recognized graduate school are eligible for admission to regular student status. Applicants with at least 12 semester hours of approved coursework from accredited graduate schools with at least a B grade point Avg are eligible for admission to regular student status.
