The statewide Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership equips practitioner-scholars for leadership roles across local, state, and national educational settings. The curriculum combines hands-on relevance with academic rigor, merging real-world challenges faced by education leaders with scholarly approaches to analyze and solve them. Faculty members include seasoned school administrators and nationally acclaimed scholars, all dedicated to the program's core mission: developing practitioner-scholars capable of impactful leadership. The Ed.D. dissertation focuses on investigating and tackling current practical challenges in K-20 education through a leadership perspective.
This modified cohort program admits new students annually in fall. Part-time students take two courses per semester, completing coursework in two years. While continuous progress could lead to degree completion in four years, many working professionals balancing multiple responsibilities typically finish in five. The program is available at WSU campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver), designed for working professionals with primarily Zoom-based instruction and some mandatory in-person sessions.
