The Microbiology and Immunology Department's graduate program offers a comprehensive, integrated curriculum that prepares students for careers as independent researchers specializing in cellular, biochemical, and molecular studies of immunology, virology, and bacteriology. Our department demonstrates exceptional dedication to graduate education, shown through our successful PhD alumni and our NIH-funded immunology training program.
Students can pursue hands-on laboratory experience in bacterial and viral pathogenesis as well as immunology at both cellular and molecular levels. This focus is further supported by our department's pre-doctoral training grant in Immunology and Pathogenesis, funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Each faculty mentor prioritizes aligning postdoctoral opportunities with students' professional aspirations to support their career development.
