The English Department provides an extensive selection of courses covering all key areas of British and American literature. Our vibrant curriculum blends conventional and contemporary methods of literary analysis. We equally emphasize historical perspectives and theoretical frameworks, textual examination and cultural backgrounds, artistic qualities and social dimensions. Faculty members instruct and produce academic works on diverse topics spanning from early medieval verse to modern global cinema, classic authors like Shakespeare and Hemingway to contemporary voices such as Austen and Morrison, formal criticism to gender studies, lengthy narratives to brief compositions, and beyond. With intentionally limited class sizes, we foster lively literary debates and enable professors to give individualized attention to student writing. Beyond serving as a cornerstone of humanities education, an English degree or concentration creates strong preparation for advanced studies in law, medicine, business, creative fields, and other disciplines. Graduates pursue successful careers in publishing, corporate sectors, finance, counseling, government, media, education, and various other professions.
