Examining government and international relations in the 21st century presents intricate, multifaceted challenges that span multiple disciplines. Effective study in this field demands expertise across social sciences and humanities. The School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) program integrates knowledge from these diverse fields to comprehensively analyze governance systems at all societal levels and global relations. Faculty and students in the Government and International Affairs (GIA) program collaborate to develop expertise in governance methods, political structures, societal interactions, cultural norms, employment environments, geographic influences, historical patterns, and moral dilemmas that converge within governmental, corporate, and nonprofit sectors. Consequently, GIA's academic foundation embraces diverse methodological approaches. This program examines governance and global relations through comparative, evidence-based, and historical lenses across all analytical levels to understand globalization's evolving dynamics and consequences. We also critically assess the prerequisites for establishing more democratic economic and social governance systems. The faculty's primary goals include conducting research, providing service, and educating graduate students at both master's and doctoral levels, connecting the GIA program and SPIA with national and global civic engagement. Through these efforts, the GIA program generates innovative knowledge, improves worldwide welfare, and equips graduates with cutting-edge research, service, and instructional capabilities.
