The Plant Pathology, Physiology and Weed Science (PPWS) graduate program, housed within the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences (SPES), focuses on enhancing plant productivity and quality by mitigating the effects of biotic and abiotic stresses. These stresses affect both the economic viability of crops and other plant-based industries, as well as natural and agricultural ecosystems. The program provides a Ph.D. with specializations in various SPES disciplines: plant pathology (examining plant diseases, pathogens, and control methods), plant physiology (studying plant functions, growth, development, and stress responses), weed science (exploring weed biology, ecology, and management), and molecular plant sciences (investigating fundamental plant and pathogen biology, biochemistry, and genetics). At the master's level, PPWS students enroll in the flexible M.S. in Life Sciences program, applying under the MSLFS degree type while choosing PPWS as their specialization.
