The Mining and Minerals Engineering Department (MME) provides advanced graduate programs (MEng, MS, and PhD) that prepare students for complex professional demands across industrial, academic, and governmental sectors. Students can specialize in diverse fields such as rock mechanics, ground stability, safety systems, mineral extraction techniques, surface chemistry applications, environmental conservation, mine ventilation, computational modeling, automation technologies, carbon management strategies, and reservoir engineering. Current faculty research determines which specializations receive particular emphasis at any time. Most admitted graduate students receive funding via research grants, teaching positions, or academic fellowships. A key departmental objective involves engaging all graduate students in innovative research initiatives that often result in publications in respected international journals and conferences. The program also caters to industry professionals by enhancing technical expertise, facilitating doctoral studies, and offering pathways for career advancement and specialization.
