The Mechanical Engineering Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program mandates that students fulfill at least 90 semester hours of graduate-level technical coursework (with specific conditions outlined below) following their bachelor's degree. Candidates must successfully pass qualifying and preliminary examinations while also completing an original research dissertation. PhD applicants are required to submit a detailed Plan of Study to the Graduate Coordinator & Academic Advisor prior to finishing their second semester in the program. This doctoral initiative aims to cultivate graduates capable of analytical thinking by identifying unique engineering research challenges and applying their technical skills to design and execute experiments, developing comprehensive research methodologies from inception to conclusion. Participants will showcase their findings as authoritative specialists in their field, contributing publications, groundbreaking research, and academic endeavors that positively impact society worldwide.
