The program offers full flexibility, allowing you to earn your MS in Gerontology entirely online or through a combination of in-person and virtual learning. Distance learners benefit from residency-neutral tuition rates, meaning out-of-state online students pay the same as Virginia residents. You can progress through the curriculum at your preferred speed, choosing between full-time or part-time enrollment. Evening course options cater to working professionals and those balancing personal commitments. Our master's program enables interdisciplinary specialization, letting students combine gerontology studies with fields like business, healthcare administration, public policy, or social sciences. VCU Gerontology provides specialized certifications in areas including senior care coordination and residential facility management. Our department supports Virginia communities and beyond by developing educational initiatives that enhance understanding of the aging process and improve quality of life for older adults. Through innovative research, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and community engagement, we train future leaders in aging services. The curriculum prepares graduates for diverse roles as practitioners, educators, and investigators in gerontology. Our NAB-approved assisted living administration track meets licensing requirements for senior care facility administrators. The department actively contributes to the field through applied research, public service initiatives, and partnerships with aging services organizations.
