Combining arts, business, and engineering fundamentals, the Master of Product Innovation program teaches students advanced concepts in product creation, from initial ideas to market launch. Students gain hands-on experience through distinctive teaching methods and a culminating yearlong capstone project. This program focuses on fostering innovation and collaboration skills, preparing graduates for leadership positions that drive the creation and management of groundbreaking products and services. VCU's Master of Product Innovation (MPI) attracts visionary individuals from diverse academic fields who aspire to develop and implement novel products and initiatives within cutting-edge organizations. Our students represent various disciplines—including design, engineering, healthcare, business, social sciences, and the arts—yet all exhibit creative problem-solving abilities, a history of innovative output, and a cooperative, forward-thinking mindset.
In addition to the general admission requirements of the VCU Graduate School, the following requirements represent the minimum acceptable standards for admission:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for at least the last two years of undergraduate work — unless approved by the director of academic programs
For applicants whose native language is not English, satisfactory scores from a standardized test commonly used and deemed appropriate for evaluation of English language proficiency, such as the TOEFL
