The MSCI program educates researchers in the methodologies and approaches used in clinical and translational studies. Participants gain hands-on, guided experience in clinical research while developing expertise in study design, biostatistics, biomedical ethics, human genetics, pharmaceutical and medical device development, and genomics through structured coursework. This two-year program prepares graduates to secure competitive funding, including NIH K23 awards, VA Career Development Grants, NIH R01 grants, and significant foundation support.
Admission Requirements
Qualified applicants for the MSCI Program consist of:
Physicians completing fellowships at Vanderbilt or Meharry Medical College who are board-eligible,
Residents with dedicated research time,
Medical students allocated time for research activities,
Vanderbilt faculty members receiving departmental approval,
Postdoctoral PhD researchers pursuing clinical and translational research careers,
Nursing School PhD candidates focused on clinical and translational research, and
Non-Vanderbilt/Meharry applicants may be considered if they identify an appropriate Vanderbilt mentor and secure funding.
