The Communication of Science and Technology (CSET) program equips students to tackle one of modern society's most pressing needs: clearly conveying intricate scientific concepts to general audiences. Drawing from Vanderbilt University's diverse academic strengths in science, engineering, and communication disciplines, the CSET curriculum caters to students seeking to apply their scientific passions beyond academic settings and into broader societal contexts.

Originally developed by students in the early 2000s as an independent study initiative, this distinctive program evolved into a cross-disciplinary offering supported by faculty mentors from numerous departments. Participating fields range from History and Sociology to Cinema and Media Arts, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Physics, and Communication Studies, among others.
