The Cinema and Media Arts (CMA) program is a multidisciplinary field blending film production with media studies and international cinema history. Students can pursue either a 33-credit major or an 18-credit minor, with a focus on cinema as both an artistic medium and a practical cultural endeavor.
The department fosters innovative perspectives while maintaining foundational educational principles. Core courses explore film/media theory, historical contexts, and practical filmmaking across both fiction and documentary formats, with instruction in 16mm and digital film techniques. Electives include screenwriting and specialized studies in production, history, and theory. Faculty from across the university collaborate to offer film-related courses, creating an academic space where cinema connects the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
All candidates for admission must present transcripts of work completed in high school.
